Overall, not a bad book, just not my style anymore.
About the Book (from Amazon):
Schuyler Van Alen is confused about what is happening to her. Her veins are starting to turn blue, and she’s starting to crave raw meat. Soon, her world is thrust into an intricate maze of secret societies and bitter intrigue. Schuyler has never been a part of the trendy crowd at her prestigious New York private school. Now, all of a sudden, Jack Force, the most popular guy in school, is showing an interest in her. And when one of the popular girls is found dead, Schuyler and Jack are determined to get to the bottom of it.
Schuyler wants to find out the secrets of the mysterious Blue Bloods. But is she putting herself in danger? Melissa de la Cruz’s vampire mythology, set against the glitzy backdrop of New York City, is a juicy and intoxicating read.
My thoughts:
I started reading this book for a summer book challenge that I have joined. You can find that post here. It is my book worth 30 points! 😉
30 POINTS: READ A BOOK WITH AN ALLITERATIVE TITLE. (ALL WORDS IN THE TITLE MUST BEGIN WITH THE SAME LETTER; NO EXCEPTIONS FOR ARTICLES OR PREPOSITIONS. EXAMPLES: GONE GIRL OR NICHOLAS NICKLEBY. YES, THIS IS TOUGH, WHICH IS WHY IT’S WORTH THE MOST POINTS!)
This is the first book I found on my shelf that fit this description. I had a short vampire craze (thank you Twilight), which I am not as into anymore, so I started this book a little skeptical. It was not too bad, but I can tell I am not so into the vampire genre anymore. It was definitely an interesting take on it though, some twists that I had never read before. Some of it was a little out there for me and I was almost a little offended a couple times with a few of the points. I am being very vague here because I do not want to give anything away. It was a good book overall, it was an easy read that grabs your attention. I will give it a 3 out of 5 only because it is not something I would read again and it is just not a type of book that I am interested in anymore. I do have a bad habit of having to read the whole series once I have read the first one, but I am going to do my best to resist that urge.
3 out of 5 stars – Interesting, just not my thing.
I’m with you on vampire stories. Twilight is unique and probably won’t be topped. At least you got your points!

Yes, Twilight is one that can’t be topped and doesn’t get old to me 🙂 Something I do like about book challenges is that they push you out of your comfort zone and make you read new things. Sometimes they are winners and other times not, but all worth it.
